For this first milestone, you will identify the public health issue you have chosen to research for your policy or program evaluation. In a brief but formal summary of the purpose, you will outline the purpose and significance of the public health issue and identify the overall goals of the policy or program. In addition, you will produce a needs and capacity assessment identifying resources and assets the community already has additional resources that would be needed, and a justification of the need for this policy or program using data-based academic resources.
Summary of Purpose: Outline the purpose and significance of the public health issue and identify the overall goals of the POLICY OR PROGRAM (please pick one pertaining to the topic looking at either evaluating a program or examining a policy initiative pertaining to your topic area)

B. Identify the social determinants of health and epidemiological patterns or trends relevant to the issue and population, justifying with data from academic resources.
C. Summarize the benefits of the policy or program with regard to improving public health in the selected region and/or population and how it benefits the larger health system.
